We're making a beta version of the Force.com IDE available so that you can try out the latest features. If you are interested in using the beta (unstable) version, follow these steps. Please note that installing the beta version will override your current installation of the Force.com IDE; you can't have two versions installed at the same time.
- In Eclipse, click Help > Install New Software.
- Add this new update site: https://developer.salesforce.com/media/force-ide/beta_eclipse45
Note: This link is meant to be used by Eclipse; if you open the link in a web browser you'll see an error. - Be sure that “Group items by category” is not selected.
- Select the checkbox next to “Force.com IDE” (required).
- If you have Apex Debugger licenses, select the checkbox next to "Force.com IDE Debugger."
For information about the Apex Debugger, check out our documentation. - If you want to install support for Lightning Components, select the checkbox next to "Force.com Lightning Support."
- Click Next > and proceed with the installation.
- Note: If you choose to install support for Lightning components, you will see a warning dialog about installing software that contains unsigned content. We are bundling third-party plug-ins to support Lightning components. Salesforce does not own these third-party plug-ins and, hence, we don't sign them. You may click OK to proceed.
