Mottos:
Leave people, places and things better than you find them. This is why I adopt a philanthropic world vision. Paying good works forward is why I am a fan of all things Open Source.
Life is one big experiment. Make mistakes and build on the things that worked along with those that did not. Don't forget to forgive yourself along the way. This is why I seek to invest my time working for organizations that value and reward fearless inquisitiveness. Currently, I serve as the Senior Application Developer and DevOps Engineer for the National Museum of African American History & Culture - a unit of the Smithsonian Institution. I am one of the programmers that develops the interactive exhibits. I have the freedom to experiment with emerging technologies in order to create an immersive and educational experience for our visitors.
Never allow fear to be the base upon which to make decisions or motivate you to inaction. This is why my 2020 resolution is to finally jump into the deep end and become an active contributer to a passion-relevant Open Source project. I've been watching, wanting but lacking confidence; however, I can't talk it - if I don't walk it.
There is no place in healthy societies for bullies. One of the most effective weapons to combat this bad behavior is inclusivity. This is why I tend to join organizations and invest my time in projects that ACTIVELY take steps to breakdown barriers for and create opportunities for underrepresented communities - specifically in tech.
Currently I am most active in organizations with missions that focus on collaboration across industries or agencies.
