@kkirsche By the property being "ignored", I don't think it should be "removed". In the details they do intend on using the version property in the future. That's my take anyway. |
Bower core development is effectively dead (or at least it really slowed down) so that shouldn't really matter. It's moot and makes things hard to maintain so let's remove it. |

Also just an FYI there are discussions to move bower to NPM anyway so I wouldn't really plan to support it for ever: bower/bower#1520 |
