It may be a good idea to shift the metadata source from metrics to coldata in the long run. For anything other than human or mouse I have been removing the rrna part in the QC due to the extra file needs. Shifting to coldata removes this issue but will not provide seq metrics if they are going to be part of the model.

we need to make columns optionals.
