I’m thinking of starting a 6 part mini series for RubySG to inspire engineers to start building again! I want to reach out to folks who built / help built a product to give a short sharing about how they got started and the challenges (geeky ones too) they faced. Each episode will consist of a 20min sharing and a 10min Q&A session.
What I hope to achieve with the mini series is to get more people to start building again like how the Ruby community came together many years ago. In some way many people have been satisfied with solving hard problems at work but have stop dreaming about innovation. Through listening to both new and seasoned makers from the Ruby community, I hope that people will find building not so daunting after all and that through their own hands they can build something that they resonate with.
People I have reached out to:
Agreed:
Edwin: Talenox (big)
Adrian: NodeFlair (medium)
Gabriel: Mira (small) - preferably after dec
Ernest: Frikanda (small) - only after september
Kang Sheng: YetAnotherYear (small) - put where ever the least participant is
These questions serves as a guide in understanding what kind of angle the talk can take. However, please feel free to plan your talk according to your interpretation on how we can inspire new and old engineers to build!
Since there is only 20 minutes, it is recommended to answer less questions but in more details; over more questions without details.
Tell us about yourself.
Tell us about your app.
How did you landed on this idea and why did you decide to build it?
What are some of the non-technical challenges you faced when building this app?
What are some of the technical choices you made when building this app? (language / framework / database / authentication design / etc)
Can you share one specific technical challenge that you think will tickle an engineer's interest and how you overcame it?
