Output of difference tool unstable depening on zoom level

What is the bug or the crash?

I have created a shape with the difference tool, the results appear to be corrected when zoomed out. However once zooming in the "difference" shape seems to be unstable, resulting in a wrong shape and size.

Steps to reproduce the issue

1. create two polygon shapefiles which partially overlap with shape_1 being larger than shape_2. Shape_1 is biscected by shape_2.
2. select the difference tool from the geoprocessing toolkit
3. select shape_1 as the input layer
4. select shape_2 as the overlay layer
5. run with open output file after running selected
6. zoom in on resulting shapefile

Versions

3.40.1 and 3.34.13
