For instances where there are multiple vans, allow
a) Users to add vans, on either a permanent or temporary basis (hire vans, etc.)
b) Pick a van to sign into (if there isn't a designated device, and users are using their own, for instance)

Temporary vans would disappear from the list after they have been returned. List for "Current Vans" and "All vans ever" to allow user to extend the hire period.
Each hire van to be its own van to allow for fault reporting to be reset, and other useful reasons.

App is designed to run on a semi-standalone device and to remain within a single van. When we hire, another device would have to be set up in the hire van. Data from both could be combined in sync/export. The name of the van will be set in the app's settings screen. I don't foresee the need to move tablets between vans.

As two way syncing data is a tricky task there is currently no provision for users to use their own devices for logging.

While I like the idea of people being able to do it from their own device I feel that would just make it optional and some people would forget therefore I'm more for there being a dedicated device for each van.

However (and please correct me if you have already thought about this) how would the device connect to the Internet to upload it's data ? If it's on someone's personal device then that's fine since people will almost certainly have data. For a dedicated device it would need it's own data connection which would cost money and I'd personally be against, or be logged into the local wifi network with someone's credentials which is a bit of a bodge as ALL traffic would go through their account not just the apps traffic and if their password changes that's not always apparent as a reason why the wifi has stopped working. There's also the issue that wifi might not reach the usual parking spot (citation needed).

No always-on data, I'm assuming we can get an associate account for van tablet like @davidtaylorhq got for the theatre's displays.

Might be possible, but it took many many persuasions to get one for NNT
