The instructions contained in the links provided by the authors, either from the markdown file (hortonworks site) or the output from the install script (although the link for that sources is broken) are correct, however, there is another aspect to this setup which needs to be included, and that is to make sure ssh is running. This link provides the information on how to enable ssh on your Mac (look at the first answer)
