Currently the Link paragraph accepts a link URL in a plain text field.

One presumes that this is so that variables can be injected into a template to build up a configurable link.
I've requests from editors in Essex would rather like Linkit to work for this component.
Is there any fundamental reason why this should not happen/get worked on?
