Hi all,
Preamble: I'm a seasoned programmer and have been using Home Assistant since 2018. I've searched extensively across Google, Gemini, and other search engines but haven't found a solution for my issue.
There are times when I have a very short (sub 1/2 mile, ~30 seconds) drive home where none of my various automation attempts at "Am I in my car?" detection via the iOS companion app update the server quickly enough to open my garage door:
I've found that detecting the BSSID when I'm connected to my car (which heuristically implies CarPlay) is the most reliable, but not perfect.
I know Companion App-side automations don't exist, but is it possible to push a BSSID/SSID/CarPlay connect event to the server upon connection? If not currently, is it feasible despite iOS's constraints?
Thanks in advance for any guidance (and please don't judge my short drive 😅)!
