Feedback

One thing I might add to "To share a device from another Matter controller (like Apple or Google Home)" is that the "other Matter controller" needs to be on the same network as the phone. As I write that, it seems obvious, but I was so focused on making sure my phone and laptop (where I run HA) were on the same network that I neglected to think about what network my Amazon Echo (other Matter controller) was on. I just redid my network and moved things around, but HA was still on my main network, while the Echo had been moved to my IoT network.
