Publishing content to the .NET Foundation Blog

Here is a step-by-step guide on publishing blog post content on the .NET Foundation's new site (using Sitefinity).

In this document, you'll find how to publish blog posts to the Blog page of the .NET Foundation site. Before continuing, you'll need a username and password to access the website from existing admins.

You can follow these steps to begin writing a blog post.

1. In the main navigation menu, go to Content > Media and Events, where the browser will to a Medias page.
2. Click the "Create a media" button at the top-right of the page.
3. On the "Create a media" page, you'll now see inputs for "Title", "Image", "Description," "Media Type", and more.
   a. You must set "Media Type" to "Blog Post".
   b. "Description" is the blog post content. It does not support markdown but instead uses a format specific to Sitefinity.
4. For "Blog Fields", select the author as yourself or another individual(s).
5. Event Fields allow you to set a publication date for blog posts. Optionally, you can select a sunset date for a post (but I do not recommend it).
6. Under "Social Media," you can set the og: Title, Description, and Image meta tags. These fields help increase the clickability of shared posts on social media platforms. It is highly recommended that you fill these in.

Once the blog post is published, it will appear in the site's Blog section.
