Add a route to open Blueprint Gallery via URL #2031
Comments
Hi @bph. Do you mean the "Blueprint Gallery" menu item on the left? I think all the links in the Blueprint context that bring the user to https://github.com/WordPress/blueprints/blob/trunk/GALLERY.md or https://github.com/WordPress/blueprints/blob/trunk/GALLERY.md immediately or after a couple of clicks are ok. You don't need to have a root page to handle this. What do you think @adamziel? |
Yes, that particular menu item should have its own URL, so when the URL is share in context a click brings up a Playground instance with the blueprint gallery open. Here is a use case: This entrance is a much nicer entrance to explore the Blueprints Gallery. GitHub is for many non-developers a scary place and this page of the Gallery.md is not particular appealing. It's all about discoverability. And most of the time people learn from other people's writing rather then go and look at GitHub repos. What do you think? @zaerl |
@bph I think this makes sense and will show the final user a more polished context. We should change the used Github bots to update the new page. It's a great idea, but perhaps there are better ones to be handled right now, given our current priorities. |
@zaerl this would involve displaying that panel based on a query param instead of a piece of redux state. It could be an easy win – would you be interested in exploring this? |
The Blueprint Gallery on GitHub feeds into the Playground app/site with a separate menu link in the darker navigation section.
It would be much more meaningful to introduce people to the various examples in the Gallery if we could point to a
playground.wordpress.net/blueprint-gallery
orplayground.wordpress.net?page=blueprintgallery
instead of the GitHub space. The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
