Now since the main fork or continuation was here https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4Windows which has also stopped around mid-august 2021 due to circumstances.

To all other users, you should not use this repo as it's already 5 years old and Jays2Kings hasn't been seen in years except the change on the readme i suppose.
No point in making extra issues either. It will increasingly be more buggy or not as feature-rich.

DS4Windows went through many forks in it's lifetime:
Quote by Jays2Kings
DS4Windows was a project originally started by InhexSTER by the name of DS4 Tool. The tool was later branched off by electrobrains. I (Jays2Kings) then later made my own branch of it. This program allows the PS4 controller (DualShock 4) to emulate an Xbox 360 controller, which allows far more games to be compatible with the DualShock 4 than out of the box.

Addendum by me : This was then later branched to Ryochan7 as it's 4th forker, perhaps someone else will become the 5th one.

I still have version 1.4.52 from Jays2Kings and didn't have any issues. What is the main difference between newer forks against this version? I am using DS4 wired and wirelessly without problem. Or why should I switch to the new forks?

EDIT: Oh I see: The Rxochan7 fork works only on Windows 10 or newer. I still have Windows 7 PRO x64bit. So I can't switch to his fork at the moment.

More stable, more controllers (like DualSense and some others like Nintendo) can use it, dark mode, more customisation:

I've had the Ryochan fork for a while now and just now my malwarebytes just detected it as ransomware out of the blue. It also hasn't been updated in like a month so idk if like someone compromised the files or some shit but yeah. Also, I'm not a complete retard and I don't use like McAfee and think that my PC is at extreme risk by downloading this but I just wanna know why it was flagged. https://imgur.com/a/F3GJcnm

The Ryochan fork was certainly years ahead in terms of functionality and stability, but the fact that Ryochan has stated he's no longer supporting, putting the project in ReadOnly, means there's no guarantees what files are hosted where anymore, so there is a potential risk. RIP

But at the same time, this fork hasn't been supported in years...

Yay!

I don't understand why it would contain malware just because it's flagged as archived and having false-positives are quite common these days, i checked them myself if they are safe. The files won't change either juat like the repo.

Anyway it is what it is.
